ENRICHMENT TASKS: Upper primary/lower secondary students
For individuals, pairs and groups in English, Visual Arts, Library or Computer lessons
ENRICHMENT FRAMEWORKS: WEBSITE FOR TEACHERS
This website offers enrichment learning activities and student worksheets to support 9 picture books for upper primary and lower secondary English. The picture books celebrate imagination and creativity in 21st century learning spaces. The learning tasks utilise a number of enrichment teaching models, Web 2.0 tools and ipad apps so that students can create their own responses to these books. Students may work individually, in pairs or in teams on enrichment tasks which suit their specific needs. Tasks will require extra scaffolding, vocabulary, images, discussion and explicit teaching, based on student needs. Rubrics and checklists for success will be created by teachers and their students.
Student work on a blog: Teachers will be likely to facilitate their students' collaborative thinking, writing, drafts, comments & hyperlinks to their published work, in their own class blogs, using a tool such as Edmodo. Selected student work associated with this project is viewable at www.crunchcracklecreate.com and http://quest-games.weebly.com/.
PROJECT LEARNING: These tasks offer project learning options and we hope that students will form teams and make up their own tasks, using ideas here as a starting point. Project learning is for real audiences and purposes. We were inspired by a Swap Meet held to share ideas about project learning. Thanks, Bianca, Lee, Peter, Jess and Margaret. Rob and I came up with a Project Learning brief after the Swap Meet.
RESOURCES: Start by looking at the lessons, assessment for learning options and student worksheets. There is a Web 2.0 tools guide, and there are also guides to Google apps for education, creative uses of ipads and classroom ideas for ipads. There are many extra resources in the Skydrive folder, which are not featured on the website.
